The Family Karma

“Mamas know best”. There is no truer statement

Case in point: Once upon a time, Rohit and Lalitha’s moms were college friends in India (legend has it that one used to copy the other’s homework, but we’re not saying which is which). Many years later, they met during a college reunion. Upon chatting, they realized their respective son and daughter were both single and upon further discussions decided they could be PERFECT for each other.

Fast forward to some years later, and there they were in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina along with many family members who flew in from all over the country and the world to celebrate the union of Rohit and Lalitha.

Lesson to be learned here? Do not underestimate the power of your mom (and dad’s) networks and instincts when it comes to finding The One. Think about it, your parents are most likely the only two people in this world who know you inside-and-out and they 100% have your best interests at heart.

One other (and very important) benefit of Rohit and Lalitha having both moms who have been long-time friends? Well their wedding was hands down THE happiest coming together of two families – no awkward formalities needed. It felt like one giant family reunion and everyone joyfully contributed either a dance/song/performance to celebrate this momentous occasion – even Lalitha’s 97-year-old grandmother sang a special song (YES – and she did it so beautifully) while beaming the whole time.

Oh, and everyone (yes, all 70+ family members) even came up with and agreed on a nickname for the smitten couple: RoLa (kinda like KimYe, but BETTER! Don’t you think. Written by ENMUSE Photography
