Oscar and Shaivi’s Fusion Wedding Part I

We met many years ago and we live by the motto that everything happens for a reason! Oscar was a student while exploring his inner passion for food and culinary at Sukhadia’s- my family business where I frequented and worked during my weekends home from Boston. Oscar quickly learned the Indian culture, Gujarati language, and became a part of my (the Sukhadia) family. Though we were from separate backgrounds and had our cultural differences; our values, personalities, and priorities brought us together. After discovering a mutual love for adventures, the culinary arts, and action-thriller Netflix films, we quickly salsa’d our way into each other’s hearts! I completed my MBA at New York University and now manage business development at Sukhadia Foods. Oscar received his culinary degree from International Culinary Center in New York City and has taken the title of Executive Chef for the company. We love what we do and are so happy doing it together day in day out.

The Proposal: On a brisk night in late January 2018, Oscar took me to New York City for an evening welcome gala for his school..or so I thought. As we approached the “venue”, Central Park’s Tavern on the Green, a horse drawn carriage was waiting to take us on a night time stroll through the park. We soon reached a footpath in the road where Oscar led me through Central Park’s famous Bethesda Fountain and towards a cobblestone pathway. As we reached the end of the path, we stumbled upon Bow Bridge which was candlelit with hundreds of tiny tea lights. Little did I know that my family, along with little pup Goldy and my closest friends were secretly awaiting the big moment in bushes nearby. At the end of the bridge was a Mariachi band playing a romantic Mexican prelude and in the center lay a heart with the words, “Marry Me” outlined in red rose petals. In this moment, Oscar got down on one knee and before we knew it, #ShaiviWonAnOscar!
