Caught in the Polar Vortex

Two weeks ago when everyone embraced for record-shattering frigid temperatures, the team at Ishan Fotografi photographed the wedding of Sonam and Ravi it was the photographers’ first winter wedding at the Leonard’s Palazzo located in Great Neck, New York.

Despite the polar vortex, Sonam and Ravi alongside their friends and family were ready to celebrate. “We have photographed weddings in rain, blazzing hot summer as well as cold winter days but this was certainly one of the coldest weddings we’ve photographed thus far.” says the photography team from Ishan Fotografi. And we can’t even imagine what it took for them to capture the baraat images but they are sure fun to look at.

How Sonam and Ravi met: 7 years of constant overlap at NYU and having a few similar friends weren’t enough for us to meet. When our friends started dating and set us up, I decided to take a cab on a summer Friday at 5pm all the way from the Upper East Side to Tribeca and let’s just say that was a huge lapse in judgement. I showed up about 45 minutes late, had a great first date, and cut it short to go hang out with my mom, thinking, Ravi must think I’m an extremely odd girl and there will be no second date. Lucky for me, he’s a sucker for my weirdness.

The proposal story: After sabotaging my own proposal for a couple of months, Ravi took me to Charleston under the guise of a belated birthday present. As we were walking to the specific spot he had picked out, he was getting me all worked up about how he still hadn’t proposed to me and little did I know, he had a beautifully lined, quiet street and a photographer all ready to go. We then spent the day eating and drinking our way through Charleston.
