The wedding weekend events began with a 300 person brightly colored welcome party that took place at the Ronald Reagan Building. Détails of this event included a custom dance floor and bars to match, food carts, traditional rickshaw for favors that included bangles and bindis and a famous singer from India who got the crowd on their feet until late into the evening. To make this special, some of the food dishes that were served by the venue were created by using family recipes. The wedding day began at 3:45am with the ladies getting hair and makeup. As guests arrived for the ceremony, they were greeted by a continental breakfast, chai tea, lemonade, and lassi. As the ceremony began, chilled watermelon and cold towels were passed to guests to help keep them comfortable that August morning. White parasols lined the back of the ceremony and were also available for the guests to use during their sunny August nuptials. The colors of the ceremony were green, white and gold which popped against the DC buildings surrounding the ceremony space. A raised white aisle led the bride, groom and their parents to their lush green and white mandap, where their ceremony would take place. Each of the gold chairs had personalized white and cream wedding programs guiding guests through their 2 hour ceremony. Check out our previous post to view their beautiful ceremony
That evening, after guests were treated to lunch, guests then joined the couple at the JW Marriott for cocktails, dinner and dancing. The colors from the ceremony were carried through the evening (gold, cream, green). Specialty linens were brought in from NYC. Large 8ftx16ft clear plexi walls were designed with each guests name and their seating assignments as a focal point for their cocktail hour. Guests were treated to a photo booth throughout the evening. As doors opened for dinner, guests were wowed by the candle glow of their reception room. Not only did the candles wow the guests but some of the other wow factors included a custom gold and white dance floor with a 32ft gold and white bar with a gold and white raised DJ booth in the center. They also had a 5ft custom cake and custom clear acrylic menu cards with hand accented gold leaf at each place setting. After friends and family gave their speeches, the dance floor opened and guests partied all night long.
